Paul H. and his Mk4 Earn 2nd Place at Spokane Speed!
Customer Paul H. from Spokane, WA took home 2nd Place in the Handbuilt Sports Car Class at this year’s Spokane Speed and Custom Car Show!

Paul purchased his Mk4 Roadster (chassis #9847) in June 2020, and built the car with his son after attending the Factory Five Build School at Mott Community College. They built the Mk4 with a 5.0 Coyote from a 2013 F150, Trememc 2650, IRS, 17″ Halibrand wheels, vinyl dash with glovebox, leather seats, and vintage gauges. They painted the car Wimbledon White and Guardsman Blue stripes.

This past winter, Paul add front and rear sways bars to his Roadster. “I have not tried them out yet as I have spent the last few months polishing the car!” said Paul.

To go along with his stunning Mk4 at the car show, Paul also made some custom items to help with his display. “I work for a Sheet Metal Fabricator, and we have a new 6 KW CNC Tube and Pipe laser to go with our 2 10KW Plate lasers,” said Paul. “so I thought I would customize my crowd control bollards. We used a Plate Laser for the bases and our pipe laser for the bollards.”

Other laser cut parts Paul made include the drop trunk, the shifter bezel which also houses the heated seat switches, the radiator shroud and countless other widgets. Over this winter, he replaced the quick jack bolts with stainless steel and made custom wishbone washers in addition to adding the sway bars.

Congratulations on your car show win, Paul, and we’re so happy you’re enjoying your Factory Five build with your son!
