MuscleCar TV Features Factory Five ‘33 Hot Rod This Weekend

Posted on September 12th, 2012

Don’t miss this weekend’s episode of MuscleCar on Spike TV’s The Powerblock! Host Steve Mank and Tommy Boshers take a Factory Five ’33 Coupe to the next level with a beautiful, old-school hot rod flame job.

Custom painter JoAnn Bortles from Crazy Horse Painting shows the step-by-step technique in applying new-tech water-based paints to an old school tradition. Tune in this Saturday and Sunday morning, September 15th and 16th, at 10:30 AM EST.

  • Never see a Cobra Replica with the top up — which is understandable — on beautiful days.
How about when weather turns ugly. The tops have a reputation of leaking and visibility is questionable. The last Cobra Replica (manufacture unknown) needed a shoe horn to enter, and that was with the top off.
also I had to drive sideways with my torso torqued heavily to the left to access the peddles. I’ve read youve corrected some these faults. Can this automobile, correctly assembled, be used for a cross country trip?

  • Hi Harry,

A soft top is definitely a nice option to have. We offer two different tops – one more basic, and one that is a more premium top (sealing better and also more aesthetic – take a look in the online Parts Catalog).

In any case, the Mk4 does address fitment issues, particularly footroom-wise, and you can definitely build one for longer distances. I think Ralph Button, who has a Mk1, has something like 400,000 miles on his car (though I wouldn’t say that’s the norm!). Jesper, our Director of Engineering, has driven his ’33 Hot Rod w/soft top to work rain or shine this summer.

    Thanks!
