Hot Rod Magazine Profiles Factory Five DIY Cars!

It seems like everything is digital these days, but one thing that hasn’t changed is that it is still fun to pick up a hard copy magazine, especially a great one like Hot Rod. Pick up this month’s Hot Rod Magazine to read a great eval article on two Factory Five Roadsters and a Type 65 Coupe. The editor’s at Hot Rod took the cars to Las Vegas Motor Speedway for some drag racing as well as track time at the adjacent Exotic Supercar Rentals road course.

The Summit Racing 351W/427 powered Mk4 won the drag race competition running 11.50 seconds in the 1/4 mile.

Factory Five’s favorite driver Scott Bell drove the big rig out with five Factory Five street cars and a Challenge Car.

Hot Rod Magazine photographed the cars in the desert and then drove 40 miles to the Vegas track.

I brought my dark blue #5 Factory Five Coupe, BUT I asked customer Karen Salvaggio to bring her street legal #28 Coupe to the magazine shoot…just in case.  Karen was a huge help for three days of driving and filming.

Here’s a line-up you do not see every day.  We had a BLAST driving the cars on the road course and the strip!

The Factory Five ’33 Hot Rod was a close second in the drag race at 11.55 seconds and scored first place on the road race course.

Director of R&D Jim Schenck brought his Challenge Car for fun.  Even though the Challenge Car 150 HP down on the other cars, it ran three seconds faster on the road course.

My Coupe ran like clockwork after three days of all-out flogging!

In addition to the magazine article, a YouTube video was produced for Hot Rod Unlimited.  Watch it below.
