Spring Kick-Off, Happy Easter!

Spring got started early this year with a very mild New England winter, but the Easter weekend is the traditional beginning of spring and it is BEAUTIFUL here in Massachusetts. Everyone has spring fever and today was a great example.

FFR President Dave Smith with customer Mike Miller and his crew this morning picking up a Mk4 Roadster.

We had four (!) customer pick-ups today and there are two more scheduled for tomorrow. The Factory Five crew took a long lunch today to enjoy some pizza and watch the broadcast episode of Car Warriors that featured two FFR customer teams building side-by-side ’33 hot Rods. The show was a lot of fun and it showed the versatility in which our Hot Rod can be built.

The FFR Crew watch the Factory Five '33 Hot Rod Build-Off on Car Warriors during lunch.

The other morning, I came in to find no fewer than fifty bunny rabbits (stuffed animals) hiding all over the office and upstairs! It seems customer Bill S. who is fond of bragging about “da bunnies” which are his spies on our 289 FIA project sent us these cute stuffed animals to be donated to charity.

"Da bunnies" are always watching...

On behalf of everyone at Factory Five, I want to wish all of you a peaceful and safe Easter weekend.

President

Fred completes a beautiful Type 65 Coupe, the prettiest red Easter egg in the building.

I walked by our lift this morning and thought, "Hmm....race or cruise? Perfect!"

End of a long week and welding lead person Chad G. pushes out another lot of steel parts.

Mark S. Graduates His Mk4 & Scores Magazine Cover!

Congratulations to customer Mark S. on graduating his Mk4 Roadster build! Mark came for a tour of Factory Five in March 2020 to meet Dave Smith and the team. Mark also had the chassis galvanised to…

Factory Five is Closed Today, Monday January 26, 2026.

I made the call to scrub FFR operations for the day. The drive in wasn’t bad, and most roads are clear. Unfortunately our plow crew was late, and the day dawned with 3-4′ drifts in the back parking lot! We will be at work and at full strength tomorrow. Sorry for any difficulties this may cause. Three Generations Embark on a Type 65 Coupe Dream Build

Dave Ryan’s Type 65 Coupe build is moving right along—and it’s become something even bigger along the way. In collaboration with Factory Five Racing, V6 Media is producing a short film documenting the build process. Recently, Dave’s father, Vaun Ryan, sat down to share his lifelong passion for performance cars and motorcycles—sparked as a young boy on the family farm in Utah, building a homemade go-kart powered by a hay-elevator motor. That curiosity for how things work turned into a lifetime of mechanical enthusiasm, passed down through generations and now culminating in Dave’s Type 65 Coupe build, which is a…
